Full Moon Yin: Deep Stretch/ Meditation
- 49th St beach June-Sept. / 91st St beach April/Oct
Join us for this unique practice of beach yoga and meditation under a full moon rise over the ocean! Witnessing a full moon rise naturally quiets the mind, as you experience the wonders of the universe at play right before your eyes. We can use this time each month to evaluate where we are and reset our body and mind, opening to a new cycle. The moon has a cool, calming energy. Yin yoga inspires those same qualities. All postures are either seated or reclined and require one to become quiet, relaxed, and still, moving away from the repetitive patterns that draw our attention away from ourselves. When we sit quietly and practice putting our attention in the present moment, we literally give the body permission to let go and become completely absorbed in a stretch, releasing some of the deepest points of tension. Flexibility and comfort in the joints becomes more possible, and the resulting new move, ent of energy can leave a student feeling blissful and at peace, all at once. Bring along a yoga mat (we will have about 10 to borrow, first come first serve), large beach towel, and small blanket (while stretching and relaxing the body cools and the evening can get chilly). Some water is also a good idea for after practice. Please sign up on booking calendar to note which block we will meet on. 49th St beach typically has ample parking spaces, but additional parking can be found on 50th st block or across the street in Princess Bayside hotel garage. Off season we may meet on 91st st beach, parking on beach block or in Princess Royale garage. No charge for this experience to make it accessible for all. Donations graciously accepted by cash, Venmo, or pay,ent apps ($5-20 suggested)
